The Church has made some policy changes on the way we do our training and audits, so we were required to travel all the way to Salt Lake City for two days of training. There were about fifteen other missionary couples there from all over the world including Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Philippines, Central America, and Germany, etc. The training was very useful and will help us to do our work more effectively. We now have more responsibility as "Area Auditors" and will train and supervise "Assistant Area Auditors" who will be African residents and familiar with the cultures and languages in the different countries. So our jobs will be to "train the trainers". There is a need for about ten Assistant Area Auditors to serve in our assigned area of Southeast Africa, so it may take a long while before they are all found, called, and trained.
We added a few days on to our time in Salt Lake City, and our daughter, two of our sons, and two granddaughters came to Salt Lake, to visit us. It was great to to spend a few hours with them before we had to head back to Johannesburg. It was a long trip, both ways, with about 38 hours in airplanes, not to mention time in airports, and going to and from airports. We have been back for almost a week now and are pretty much over our jet lag. We were tired when we got back, but it was all worth it.
