Santa Delivers Like a Champ

He did it.  Santa delivered the Nikon D700 today and it is everything I had hoped.  Thanks Santa!

Here's my first panorama with it taken from the end of the driveway at sunset looking toward Park City.  Looking at the original, you can see a little blue sign down in the lower right.  And if you zoom all the way to 100% you can see that it is a Sotheby's for-sale sign.  Anyone like to buy the ranch land across from us?  Pretty please?  We'd like to keep it ranch land.

Chaos

We sometimes like to have a candle at the dinner table.  I have always wondered why candles don't smoke much until you blow them out:

  

And the chaotic patterns made by the smoke are intriguing as well.

New Blog

I have some exciting news.  This is now officially my personal blog.

"Huh?" you ask.  Let me explain.

I've gone back and forth on whether this space should focus on telling stories through images or diving in to the craft of photography.  So, I've created a new blog called Time and Light. It will focus (yes, yes, I know, bad pun) on the technical aspects of my photographic journeys and will also include little video segments outlining techniques I've recently learned.

And this blog will be a little less techie and chock full of good, old compelling images from my life.  So this is good news for everyone: No more swimming through long monologues on photo technique when you're really just dropping by for a cool image or two.  And for you photo geeks, we get to nerd out over at the new site!
