EV and I met up with Mary to photograph Albion Basin. The light was incredible, the wildflowers were blooming, the temperature was perfect and the mosquitoes were biting. But not to worry, you can enjoy some of the highlights here without the mosquitoes.

A couple of days ago I finally got around to making another light modifier for my small flashes. This reflector is commonly referred to as a beauty dish. I think the name is a little biased which is why I chose to photography an ant with this new gizmo. Ants are not considered beautiful by many people but it is my opinion that the light produced by the beauty dish reveals the details of the ant better than most other forms of strobe lighting. Note the detail and the lack of harsh shadows.

Once I get this beauty dish fine tuned, I'll have another post illustrating how it works and perhaps some examples. I especially excited to use it for the upcoming wedding shoot.
Last week we made a trip up to the Mountains of Idaho for a little family vacation. We met up with my siblings and their families for a great visit. We also made a few day trips including a hike to a glacial lake near McCall called Louie Lake. We were the only people there and didn't see any other people until we were half-way back on the trail. Here's a shot along the way:
