This evening's sunset brought to us by a thunderstorm in the Uinta Mountains. Nice show.
28mm, 1/13th of a second, f/16, ISO 200.
On the way to work I made a little detour to Lamb's Canyon which I've passed thousands of time but never taken the time to visit. I missed the really good light but there are certainly plenty of opportunities there. I also saw some trees there that I haven't seen elsewhere in the vicinity--leaves that change to a creamy, almost white color.
Today I learned from William Neill, a student of Ansel Adams and incredible nature photographer, a couple of interesting things. His favorite and most often used lens for nature and landscape shots is a 70 - 200mm zoom. I would have thought he'd nod to a nice wide angle lens. Then he also noted that lighting and composition go hand in hand because soft, warm lighting often simplifies the composition of a scene. Interesting, somewhat unexpected lessons which make me think...
beautiful capture!!
i really like the grass in the foreground, how it sort mimics a horizon line. cool.
