Over the last couple of weeks I've been listening to a great podcast called Shutters Inc. on my way to work and while cleaning up the kitchen. The podcast is hosted by a professional audio engineer that is a hobby photographer and a professional photographer. The two work pretty well together with their different perspectives--the hobbyist keeps the pro grounded and speaking in terms that photo hobbyists like myself understand. The fast that they're both Australian and bring their native charm into the conversation undoubtedly helps as well (e.g."Good on ya Bruce! Ok--talk with you later, matey...") Their chatter has done a lot to motivate my photographic interest.
In any case, I've listened to a number of their technique lessons and wanted to put one of them to the test to create a shot that I have attempted to capture for a long time: A moonset shortly before sunrise. Thanks to the fellows over at Shutters Inc., I'm much closer to the image I wanted than ever before (click photo for full size.)
Prior to listening to the podcast, this was one of my better shots:
EV woke up nice and early to investigate whether the Easter Bunny delivered any gifts. She was delighted to find a clever little easter egg hunt complete with clues concealed in plastic eggs. She patiently waited for her bleary eyed parents to roll out of bed and join in on the fun--after all, the find at the end of clue one required the reach of someone in the 6' + range. I imagine if Mrs. D and I had stalled long enough, EV would have erected a ladder of some sort. She had a lovely time and we had just as much fun watching her delight.
EV's new easter basket.
I love the clue in the egg idea! My brother wanted Mimi to run around quickly and find all the eggs, but she wanted to open each one and inspect the contents. He told me she needs some competition.
