EV and I took care of our "have-to-dos" this morning and then spent the rest of the day doing fun things and not worrying about much, "...as if twice nineteen didn't matter." That's a line from one of EV's favorite books by A. A. Milne--"Winnie-the-Pooh." She was very excited to make her first blog piece. It is difficult to tell from the photo but this is another of EV's multi-layer works crafted with crayons, scissors, glue, and stamps.
We also spent a couple of hours outside enjoying the nice (spring?) breeze. This provided the perfect opportunity to fly the ladybug kite. We had a bit of a lesson, however, when the kite nose dived onto the roof. We decided after I climbed up on to the roof that flying the kite on the other side of the house might be more fun. I had forgotten that flying a kite can put a five year old on edge because of the prospects of crashing the kite. EV had one crash but was tough enough to give it another go.
We also had another go at recording some of my grooves. I felt a little more confident this round and applied a lot less reverb. CJ3 insisted that the last groove sounded great until I told him that I practically "ironed" it on the highest setting with reverb. Here are a couple more: An eighth note and a sixteenth note. Again, the room I record the drums in is very wrong for recording; nothing but hard edges. But, if you like a little edge with your drum grooves, these'll hit the spot.
You sound very good. Maybe carpeting the walls will help soften the edges!

Emma, Your hand looks very pretty! Your hand looks so much bigger than when I last held it! All of my students that see your picture say that you are beautiful and have very pretty eyes. I hope you are having fun at school as well as learning lots.
