EV and I made a little trip up Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons this morning. She was excited to bring her own camera and tripod and I have to say she did really well. We'll sit down and work through her shots when we have a few minutes.
As predicted, the weather provided some dramatic lighting for the landscapes. We headed first up Little Cottonwood and stopped a few places along the way to make some images of the creek and surrounding mountains. This shot represents what it looked like about 15 minutes prior to a rather healthy hail storm:
Every parent thinks that their child has amazing abilities and I am, of course, no exception. I was impressed at how well EV identified good vantage points for making a picture, even with the very limited equipment we provided her. Come to think of it, I didn't even teach her how to zoom in and out. Come to think of it even more, I'm not sure that camera even has the ability to zoom optically. Hopefully we'll make a lot more of these kinds of trips.
Alas, the hailstorm prevented us from taking any pictures at Albion Basin. But, we did learn that Albion Basin and Alta Ski Resort are pretty much the same place.
